Isles of Shoals Excursion

$135
Limit: 100 people

Star Island

Isles of Shoals

The Isles of Shoals are an archipelago of 9 islands, located 6 nautical miles off the coast of New Hampshire in the Gulf of Maine. During this one-day excursion, visit the New England rocky shore and explore two of the nine islands. After arriving in Portsmouth, NH, we will board a ferry for a 1-hour ride to Star Island. Explore this historic island for a day, relax in a rocking chair on the long porch of the Oceanus Hotel, one of the original Grand Hotels, enjoy history or sustainability tours of the island (Star Island has the largest off-grid solarsystem in New England), a happy hour reception, dinner in the large dining hall and a sunset cruise back to shore.

Shoals Marine Laboratory

For those interested, there will be a short water shuttle to neighboring Appledore Island, which hosts the Shoals Marine Laboratory, a remote marine science field station from May-September each year. Tour the research facilities of this 95-acre island dedicated to providing research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and members of the broader scientific community.
